This chemistry course is designed to introduce engineering students to the basic laws and theories applying to atomic structure, chemical bonding, chemical formulas, chemical reaction stoichiometry, solution chemistry and the behaviour of gases. Basic chemistry concepts are related to practical applications of interest to engineering students including applications of acids and bases in industry, fuels, air pollutants, water hardness, scaling and softening, water clarification, batteries and corrosion.
