Students in this course examine the use of pharmaceuticals to treat general and oral health problems including the physical and chemical properties of drugs, modes of administration, and effects on the body system. In addition, students explore the impact of client medication(s), both prescribed and over-the-counter, on oral structures and treatment and management of clients with various medical considerations within the dental hygiene scope of practice.
