This course serves as an introduction to current manufacturing techniques and provides students with an opportunity to participated in a hands-on shop environment. Students will learn lean manufacturing principles, read engineering drawings, importance of shop safety, operate drills, mills, lathes and other machine tool operations in the machining lab.The student will fabricate a part and verify the accuracy of their part to engineering drawings using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
