This course introduces the student to engineering materials, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, their mechanical properties and methods to fasten them together. The student will practice basic welding skills and learn how these skills are applied to the Power Engineering field. Welding terminology and inspection methods as well as the general watertube and firetube boiler construction methods are covered. Students are introduced to the ASME and CSA codes that pertain to welding, piping and boiler construction.
