(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team has achieved its highest rankings in the OCAA and CCAA since 1997. The St. Clair women were ranked as high as 4th in the CCAA that year and ended up winning the OCAA Gold Medal and finished 5th in Canada.

The Saints are currently ranked 2nd in the OCAA and 10th in the CCAA.

St. Clair is currently 3-1 on the season after defeating the Humber Hawks this past Saturday at the Sportsplex. The Hawks were ranked 1st on the OCAA and 5th in Canada heading into the match. The Saints ended Humber’s amazing 155 game OCAA winning streak with the win (includes OCAA regular season and playoffs). St. Clair’s only loss has been to the top ranked Fanshawe Falcons.

The Saints have been led offensively this year by 2nd year Outside Hitter Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby; Sinclair Secondary). Stephenson was also named the OCAA women’s volleyball Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. Stephenson currently leads the entire OCAA in scoring averaging 5.2 points/set. She is also first in kills/set averaging 4.

Head Coach Jimmy El-Turk is very pleased with Stephenson’s play along with the team as a whole. "Te-Anna has carried the load for us offensively through the early part of this season and continues to work hard in practice to expand her game. Not only can she score from the front court but she has also started to find more effectiveness from the back court as well as from the service line. Our team's service reception and setting has much improved over the past few weeks and Te-Anna has been the offensive beneficiary of our team's improvement in those two areas."

St. Clair is next in action this weekend when they travel to Sudbury to take on Cambrian College and College Boreal on Saturday and Sunday.
