This is the first of 3 clinical rotations. Learners will be provided an opportunity to perform ultrasonographic examinations while under direct supervision of a registered Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonographer. Emphasis will be placed on professional interactions with patients and members of the health care team, assistance in patient care, application of ultrasonography physics and instrumentation and the use of various scanning techniques to obtain optimal image quality. Students will evaluate normal anatomy and pathological conditions of the abdomen and pelvis and practice the fundamentals of obtaining patients medical history, correlating relevant diagnostics and documentation of ultrasonographic findings.
