On Wednesday, November 22, the Genesis Centre for Experiential Learning and Career Services hosted a Lunch and Learn seminar for students. Partnering with the Windsor-Essex Small Business and Entrepreneurship Centre (SBEC), the event aimed to sow the seeds of entrepreneurship among a group of students who registered to attend.

Led by Business and Entrepreneurship Specialist Cristina Melnik, the group learned of the of the various services available to new and aspiring business owners through the SBEC. “The SBEC is a great starting point for anybody who is looking to or even just thinking about starting a business,” said Melnik.

Attendees received insights into how the organization can help with business planning, market research, financial advice, grant opportunities and mentorship. The setting encouraged open dialogue, turning the seminar into an interactive session where participants shared their individual aspirations.  "I had no idea about these free resources and can’t wait to share this information about the programs,” noted one attendee.

Students who attended this seminar were introduced to a wealth of programs designed to nurture entrepreneurial ambition sand offer a roadmap to success. SBEC programs tailored to various business pathways include:

“We can provide advice and consultation. We have a number of workshops and events available,” added Melnik.
